Aagaswadi falu a gyakori szárazság sújtotta Satara régióban fekszik az indiai Mann Maharashtra dombságban. Az ismétlődő aszályok és a megélhetési lehetőségek hiánya miatt a fiatalok kénytelenek beköltözni a faluból a városba, csak a gyerekek és az öregek maradnak. A kétségbeesett Bhimrao, akinek sem elegendő ivóvize, sem öntözési lehetősége nincs, kutat ás, hogy elegendő vizet fakasszon magának és gazdaságának.

The village of Aagaswadi is located in the Satara District, in the hills of Mann Maharashtra, India—the epicenter of a drought-prone region. Due to ongoing drought, and hence, lack of livelihood options, the young people in the village are forced to abandon their home for city life, leaving behind the very young and the elderly. With neither sufficient drinking water nor irrigation facilities, a desperate Bhimrao digs a well to quench his and his farm’s thirst.

Imagine waking up as an “enemy of the people.” This was the reality waiting for students and staff of Central European University (CEU) as a coordinated legal and media apparatus began to demonise and eventually criminalise the Hungarian-American institution. The film follows students of CEU as they struggle against their exile by an increasingly authoritarian government. We follow their stories in a backsliding democracy and the consequences of democratic “red lines” being crossed with impunity.
